If multiple states are involved then you're under the jurisdiction of federal law. One of the main purposes of the federal government is to regulate interstate commerce. A federal lawsiut can be filed against you.

Yes, they "can" file a lawsuit against you, but is question is "will they"?

I have known people that borrow money in the same state and all that happened was it went to a collection agency and on a credit report. It really all depends on how much you owe. If you don't owe a lot then the collection agency is going to try and contact you by all means for approximately 60 - 90 days, stick it on your credit report and give up. Once the account in the credit report is over two years old it doesn't carry much weight on your credit score.

I assume that they lent you the money across that same line. Think about it. Would they lend you the money if they couldn't come and get it.
