I think one of the purposes of his writing 'A Hanging' is concerned with the way of justice executed in the name of British imperialism in the remote colonial country. Moreover, he also portrayed how inhuman or cruel we tended to be so in certain situation and this inferred our relative short life on earth, therefore, we should take care with our lives by living as decently, creatively and lawfully as we can. Or else such an unlucky life (the inmate to be hanged in the essay) would be mercilessly terminated without any exception since he was guilty of homicide.
