super cardiod and hyper cardoid will narrow the range down, you don't really want a directional mic for a choir, but a couple of well-placed quality condenser mics (cardoid) will do the trick, other than that, its omni-directional for the best results. You don't say whether this is for live work or recording??

Well, both are directional mics, meaning they only hear sounds from certain directions. But if you had to choose from one I would choose a supercardioid, or which ever one is cheaper! To be honest I would go with an omnidirectional mic if you were just micing an entire choir, but if you were micing single people deffinetly go with the supercardioid.
