I find that while TTC some things in that movie make perfect sense, not to mention they make the stress of TTC sort of less.

I've seen and enjoyed the movie, and laughed and cried at various parts, but as with all Hollywood depictions of TTC there's always something that's just so wrong it ends up annoying me if I look at it from a TTC point of view. What jumps to mind is Elizabeth McGovern's character yelling to her husband, "Honey, I'm ovulating! NOW!" (or something to that effect). Ovulation tests and ovulation prediction just doesn't work that way. Although I've yet to see a movie or TV show that doesn't make it seem like that's how it is! (Wouldn't be so terrible except for the fact that lots of women, to say nothing of the number of men, end up thinking that's exactly how it works!)

That bit of reality-departure notwithstanding...it's definitely a fun movie. I thought they were really likable and sweet, and I think it was a gentle but accurate depiction of some of the fears that come with trying to have children/expecting to have children, and some of the....misgivings....when your spouse goes from sexual being to pregnant being (eg great shot of Kevin Bacon holding up first his wife's pre-pregnancy thong...and then her pregnancy brief!)

I also like that movie! I think it has a nice balance of humour and real life fears as the world is around you is about to change with the arrival of a new baby. The scene where Kevin Bacon is waiting on pins and needles in hospital is super touching with the Kate Bush song. If I saw it now, as a mom, I'd ball twice as hard.

Loved that movie. Could relate a lot to it. It took me and hubby 18 mos to convceive. It actually happened when we were on vacation in Canada and I had forgotten my fertility meds. I cried and cried 'couse I couldn't get them in Canada. My husband sweetly said "Its ok honey, we'll try again next month". I balled. I didn't want to try again this month. Well I finally came to the conclusion that it wouldnt happen that month and guess what. She's almost 15 now. The next two pregnancies happeded right on cue. I guess it was like opening the flood gates. Hang in there white, we're rooting for you.
