some people vote because they truely believe it will make a difference, other people don't vote because they are to lazy to stop and vote, or they just don't give a dam, or they think it won't make a difference. I am the later part of these.
Politic's rub me the wrong way. They lie to you, make empty promises, and they are great in making a good impression to get you to vote for them.
Frankly, this year, I may change my mind and vote. The reason for this, is there is a woman running and I think it is about time the women can do for us, the guys didn't do too well, let's see what a waman can do, she can't be any worse.

Three reasons, directly from me.
1. I voted since I was 18, all the time, and every time! Until last year. I got tired of the crooks in politics. The mayor of my city was being sued. And I voted for him. The last election, I didn't care. My "VOTE" was not to vote.
2. After seeing the crazy chaos and Bush winning an election (again a BOZO in office), but losing to the popular vote, I felt that my vote was not even accounted for, regardless. You know, the collegiate thing, how that works... ...Your whole town can for for one guy, and it means nothing.
3. Nobody, in general knows anything about anyone who is running for office. Really. If you base your votes on what the media chooses to tell you. Or if you base your votes on TV campaign ads, then you are uneducated. Most people who vote always end up with one or two politicians undecided, so they pick the "best one", based on their name, the location of the voting lever, etc...

It's a good question. Most people who don't say it's because one vote won't make a difference. I think more often it's because they just don't relate to the issues. Frankly, if they're not well-informed, I'd just as soon they stay home.
I grew up in a politically-informed family and was lucky enough to be impressed with the importance in taking part in the democratic process. In my family, if you didn't vote, you didn't have the right to gripe. I ALWAYS VOTE.

I vote because:
It is important to me. It is my Right and Responsibility. My vote counts.
Because people long before me who never knew I'd exist fought with their blood and treasure so that I could.
To cancel out someone else's vote!
Why don't others - Some make excuses. Some felons cannot vote while others can - go figger.
For all those who can but don't bother to vote: My vote is voting for maybe 10 of you. Thank you for trusting me.

When I vote I actually think of all the people who fought and died for the right to do just that. I vote because what I do in life matters. When you talk to those who do not vote, to a man they will say it doesn't matter because what they think doesn't matter or it will be canceled out so it isn't worth it.
To each their own I suppose, but to me it is obvious that to vote or not depends on your view of self worth and self determination.

They vote because they can. Or at least I do. As long as I've got a chance to have some input, small and/or futile as it may be, I'm going to take it. I believe some people don't vote because they consider the whole system corrupt beyond redemption. That's it, that's all!

for a few reasons.
One may be to young to vote.
Some may be to lazy to get out there and vote.
And others may feel that no political party will be right for the country.

People vote because people are gullible enough to fall for the bs the politicians tell them. They also vote because the think they have a sense of duty to vote, but really that's just another ploy/guilt trip politicians use to get gullible people to vote. People who don't vote are sensible enough to realize that most politicians are corrupt little liars. It's unpatriotic to vote for someone you cannot trust.

1- people feel it is their responcibility and they think their vote matters.
2-due to the electoral college some don't think there vote counts (especially if they are a minority in their state/liberal in a red state) or because they don't care for either canidate
