What causes my dome and doors are open lights to stay on in my 1999 Mercury sable, even when the doors are shut?

You have a bad door switch or its stuck try each one and spray with some wd 40

No, pinched wires may reason the lighting fixtures no longer to go back on, yet gained't impact the lighting fixtures turning off. If the lighting fixtures gained't turn off, i'd suspect probably a door that needs adjusted, or probably a defective door change.

Bad switch in the door. I had a lincoln that did that. Sprayed the locks with wd 40 and it fixed it. They get dirty and sticky. Try the wd 40 thing first.

door ajar switches are known ford problems 99 percent of the time when lights stay on.. its not fords problem its just a cheap switch supplier. or make sure you didnt leave the rheostat on that controls dash light brightness'.

replace the switches in the doors, they don't cost much.
