Absolutely! Of all of the species that have been created in the millions upon millions of years, somewhere/sometime, a large lizard had to have grown wings large enough to achieve flight.

However, I do not believe that dragons (if they existed), were able to breath fire.

Now remove the wings! Focus on the fire and imagine this. At one point in the history of the Earth, chemicals that are locked away now were free floating. Electricity has always been around, creating static charge. Imagine the possibility (and it's not as far fetched as you might think!) of a creature with an attached pouch that allowed it to gather the flammable chemicals from the air, in a safe manner. A small furry patch of hair at the exit of the pouch would allow for a static charge/spark to ignite the chemicals it would release upon it's enemy for protection.

Now although I do not believe in fire-breathing flying dragons, does not mean it was impossible for them to exist. I just believe the odds of both of these things evolving in one creature, is near impossible... but not impossible. Just too close to impossible for me to believe.

Do you believe?

Well if you go back to the dragon slayers and the fact (used loosely) that dragons are reported in more than one country at various times on different continents then, we can reasonably guess that they were real. Now as to what movies/tv has them portrayed as then that is all fiction.
In China they were 4 legged and with small wings, is the Komodo Dragon a decendant or a forefather to a species that is extinct. What if what was seen was actually a dinosaur such as the Quetzalcoatlus or a similar species.
Great philosophers say that there is fact in all myth and legends.

Yes if you think about it logically they had to. If you look back onto legends in many different countires across the globe each culture had its own dragon. How can cultures that had no contact with each other and where seperated by thosands of miles of land have come up with the same creature unless they where real. The discovery channel did a specail and showed how one could in fact live breath fly and breath fire and still be biologicaly posssible.

Maybe the dragons that did exist are more reptilian in nature; snakes don't have a bone structure,n they are mainly carilage, so it rots away quickly.

As such, there wouldn't be bones to be found.

Anything is possible.

Every ancient civilization and culture has some story/legend about some sort of giant lizard associated with fire or smoke.

I don't see how that's coincidence.

Yes! Medieval cartographers marked their charts: "here be dragons" in certain areas.

I really don't think Dragons ever existed or Mermaids, vampires, ware-wolfs, fairies. I haven't seen any proof of such things!
