I may be moving to from Canada to Arizona, and don't like the fact my youngest son would have to wait another full year to attend kindergarten, as states must be 5 by Aug 31, whereas in Canada it's by Dec 31. Is there an alternative? Have I been given some false info?? Please help.

The age, and the cut off date vary by school district, as does the willingness to be flexible. Most kids, especially boys, benefit from another year of maturity before entering kindergarten. That said, you can usually enter a child in a private kindergarten as a 4 year old, and then in a public school as a 1st grader the next year if he has had a reasonably successful kindergarten year.
