inspired this wave of texts? Is there something in the news that I don't know about?

So nobody can actually answer the question? I'll have to leave it to the Ya-bots to decide!

Okay, just want to point this out. The jokes don't offend me and I don't care about racism. I live in the Midlands, the World-centre of multi-culturism! I just wanted to know if there had been something in the news that sparked this! Judging from the answers, I would have to guess "no" and assume it's just a coincidence.

Okay, I officially give up! There is obviously nothing in the news that has sparked this and it's all gone away anyway!

First person to say "coincidence" gets the points!

Nah. It's common for things like this to be discreetly passed via text message, e-mail, blog, etc. so that people can appear to be inoccent in public when they tell everyone how many black friends they have and how tolerant of others they are.

There is a frightening backlash against the gains made by the Civil Rights Movement (and Womens Rights Movement) occuring all around the United States.

I encourage you to visit the webpage of the Southern Poverty Law Center (URL below) and consider contacting them about the text messages.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. Today, the Center is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.

I haven't received any jokes against black people. I have received a few about Muslims. You know what, I can't remember them, so these kind of jokes do not make an impression. The kind of jokes I don't like are the sick ones shortly after disasters or child murders, remember Billy Connelly's "joke" about Ken Bigley? Now that made me want to hide behind the sofa.

I dont know if aanything has set these racists jokes off..maybe theres nothing left to pick on so the poor old blacks cop it again..they seem to be an easy target for these idiots.....Id like to see some really funny jokes about white people for a change and maybe we could have a good laugh at ourselves...that would make a change..

If a individual is sending abusive or insulting messages then they're committing offences lower than the telecommunications act. record it to the police. notwithstanding whats up will be warned lower than the harassment act it truly is more beneficial probable. it truly is going to positioned a end to their behaviour. make efficient you save the messages and a be conscious at the same time with date and time of the different behaviour in the route of you.

yeah! i get some of those jokes but i just think
............that's f**ked up...........
you never get any jokes about a white dude small penis or a Asian dude small penis, but you get a joke about a black dude freakishly large penis like its a bad thing when woman like a large penis compared to a small one.

I personally don't like black people using the N word so I'll be damned if a white person or any other race use it towards me. I call my friends by their name and nothing else not even friend.

but the jokes are jokes! if black people can laugh at them then white people or any other race should be able to laugh back when its issued.

don't know what sort of jokes they are,but probably 99% of text jokes aren't serious. there just jokes. i tell "racist" jokes but there is absolutely not a racist bone in my body. is telling a joke about an Irish man, racist. about a Chinese man, an American ? no there just funny. Al Murry takes the piss out of the french and Germans its just poking fun, its not racist. black people tell jokes about white people, its not racist. its just natural humour. dint worry about it
