Your question is interesting.

If the quality of your life is good and you have a fulfilled time enjoying what life has to offer, time is said to go very quickly because you are too engaged in that life. People who live less productive lives where they are not challenged or fulfilled, life does drag by for them because there is no stimulation to engage the senses.

The ancient people didn't have a clock, but did live by the cues around them and woke when the birds did and slept when the sun set. This life was always about hunting and gathering and survival and so their day must have gone by very quickly when both their minds and bodies were continually active all throughout the day learning about their environment. They had no concept of the day being short or even long and because they just lived it with nature and were not informed about things like time. They would often spend days making useful tools and building their homes and fishing etc......they didn't have the kind of surplus
amount of time like we have today

Now, we are informed about time and so that changes the way we interact with our lives. We do live by a clock and cannot live any differently unless we change the society we live in. I would love to go back to when we had no concept of time!. We often feel that the day drags at work or when we get bored of watching tv or waiting for a bus or for dinner to cook. Parts of that day goes slowly when we are not fully engaged with life that is stimulating to us.

So it would make sense to me that the day does go a lot slower the less we have to do or if we don't channel our energies into something productive. It will only appear to go that bit quicker if we are fully engaged with what we are doing whether we are isolated or not doesn't have any relevance. It really does depend upon the quality of life as to how long or short it is perceived to be. I am a recluse on and off and have spent long periods of
time in isolation and it can be a destructive thing if you are doing nothing to stimulate yourself and yes, time does go very slowly.

Keeping active and having goals is the key to enjoying life and also makes the day a much shorter one. I found that when I was a worker, I did so many things outside of work too and often felt resentful that there wasn't enough time in the day to do all of the things I wanted because time just zoomed by!.

Hope I have helped, but this is what I believe.

Isolation?...Longer and is too dangerous for the person who has a week personality. Isolation at some point may tend to cause the peson to be more frustrated to a certain problem he is currently having, he might be able to think of suiciding as a mere solution to his loneliness. Parting yourself with the crowd may lead you to develop a state of weakness in dealing with other people and thus may soon let you be afraid to mingle with other people.
