My red eared slider comes up to the edge of his tank and stares at me is that begging? By the way she's doing it right now. Please help me!

I beg to differ guys... my turtles do, in fact, beg.

I have a young painted and an older RES, and when they hear the food jar rattle, they immediately jump into the water and start swimming at me... (even splashing water out of the tank!) until I feed them. :)

Just don't feed 'em every time, any more than you would your dog.

Enjoy!

I have three red eared slider turtles & they do that all the time. It's not begging, they're just aware of their surroundings.

this turtle is not begging it is curious and if you have a light on it that is why to they love light or she could be wanting food once these animals are in a habitate they like they are more alive i used to live in illinois where the roads are covered in turtles when it warms up and i had 25 of them at once

Turtles are easily smart enough to associate you with food- and if you feed it just because it 'begs', you would be demonstrating that it can train you just as easily! ;-)

Feeding begging turtles is a good way to get obese turtles quickly.

No he isn't begging. He's trying to climb out of his tank.

Turtles don't beg. It's probably just curious.
