We have two little girls and two cats. All of us have allergies and my daughter has asthma. I vacuum twice a week sometimes more, is the Dyson worth the price for the hype?

Totally, I can't even tell you how awesome it is. We have gone through a lot of vacuums and were on the market for something that would last and do really really good. By mistake we got a Rainbow. What a waste! with the dyson in just one room the first use we got 3 canisters full! It was crazy! the suction hasn't gone away in over a year now. Dyson DC14 Animal! ( we have two dogs that shed, it's perfect for this!) I have bad asthma too which is why we went with the Rainbow in part. It did alleviate the problems associated with vacuuming but the dyson is way better ( 1 to two hits of albuteral daily, down to maybe 1 a week now)

Only the older original models got low ratings by consumer reports. If you search the Asthma sites on the web you will find Dyson IS ranked in the top 2 in almost all of them. It has several filtering systems before the air exits including a HEPA. It's the best vacuum I've ever owned hands down!

Yes! The Dyson is worth the money. Based on your particular needs I recomment the new dyson dc 17 animal. It has a powered hand brush that is perfect for removing pet hair from furniture. I know that other vacumes offr this accessory however the rotation on the cheap imposters can easily be stopped with your hand. Add in a 17 foot hose and the ability to turn off the rotating brush for usage on hard surfaces and it is hard to beat. Also worth mentioning, it comes with a five year warranty from dyson that is so comprehensive best buy doesn't even offer a service plan on it. As for complaint that is can loose suction, this is usually cause by a failure to rinse out the lifetime filter as specified by dyson. with a little loving care a dyson should offer years of superior service. The aformentioned hoover windtunnel has an exposed paper hepa filter that is not only expensive, also cloggs easily.

I have a Dyson and I love it. I also have 2 kids and 2 dogs so I vacuum a lot. Worth every cent ! If you are a little strapped for cash, you may want to consider a factory serviced Dyson to save a few bucks.

Yes! My husband bought me one a few months ago and I love it! I had sprinkled that baking soda carpet stuff about 3 months before getting my Dyson. I have 2 cats, a dog, a 4 yr old and a baby...So, I vaccum every single day. When I got our Dyson, the first time I used it, I sucked up a bunch of that carpet powder!!! I had been vacuuming daily with our hoover wind tunnel and it didn't even touch the stuff! That sold me on it for sure :)

YES! Dyson doesnt even begin to compare with other models on suction and allergen reduction. It is easy to use and empty with no dust flying around. It actually cleans the carpet all the way to the carpet pad. It filters the air as it cleans to assure that no dust or allergens get into the air from the carpet. Dont fall for look alikes or other vacuums, get the actual real thing. It is worth the price. You willl see.
Good Luck.

Dyson gets a low rating from a major consumer reporting magazine. I read that Hoover Wind Tunnel has the best rating. The Hoover also has filters for allergens. I have the Hoover, and it's the best vacuum I ever owned.

my personal opinion is no. my parents had one when I was living with them (9 people total) so there was always vacuuming to do, we had a dyson (claiming that it never looses suction) not true at all. after only 2 months it wasn't cleaning the same.

I know its a heavy workload, but they shouldn't state something thats not true for all households.

your better of buying one at an affordable price that will do the same thing.

I have the dyson made for pet hair - I would recommend if you have cats.

I clean homes and a few of my clients have them. I'm not overly impressed with them and find them quite bulky. We get a mail order catalog that offers refurbished Dysons for sale.....are there really that many of them? Check out 'consumersearch.com'. They have reviews on all types of vacs. They ask what features you want and your price range.
