Endangered...I would have to say the Burrowing Owl. These little ones are awesome. They defy all rules, that apply to Owls that is. In Bird of Prey Species the female if larger then the male. It is the opposite with burrowing owl's.They don't live in trees they live in burrows in the ground. These small owls don't start them however they take over a burrow that has been started by another animal, but they can excavate the burrow up to six feet deep. They are active during the day unlike most owl's. These little ones are endangered throughout most of the United States. The problem is we are taking the land that they use as a home and we build housing tract's, Parking lots, etc .on them, then they don't have a place to go.

One really cool endangered animal is the green sea turtle.Green Sea Turtles were hunted in Hawaii many years ago by fishermen who would use their skin for small leather goods and they would make turtle soup with the meat (yes turtle soup was real at one time :P) Green sea turtles are now legally protected in Hawaii where you can be heavily fined for harrassing one. The only things keeping them on the endangered species list now are poachers who take the eggs illegally and Fibropapilomatosis, a diesease where the turtles develop tumors all over it's body and eventually dies.
