Does anyone know where the worst water use in the US is?

The most unsustainable water use in the US is probably Las Vegas. if I had to choose a single answer, this would be it. It is never a good idea to turn a desert into an artifical oasis.

Salinization is also destroying much of the water in the American West (think Lake Powell area, southern CA, etc.), and destroying cropland with it. So much water gets diverted for US agriculture that very little usable water flows to Mexico. Mining regions suffer from acid mine drainage, which is hard to counteract. The Hudson River near my home technically qualifies as a superfund stie from PCB contamination. (However, the rest od NYS has a watershed conservation program that is first-rate).

as for tap water "The top 10 states, listed in order of the most contaminants in their drinking water, were: California, Wisconsin, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Illinois"
