I get paid every Friday at my work in a weekly basis. Last Thursday Feb 1st I called in that I can't go to work because of a doctor's appointment. The only day I work was Feb 4th and Feb 7th of this year, and I didn't receive any next Friday Feb 9th because the manager told me I had to get paid next week? So how weekly salary really work?

It depends on what the company's "week" is... believe it or not, it is not always Sun-Sat or Mon-Sun. It could run Tues-Mon, for example.

Also, it seems like you are not working full time. Chances are, if you are not working full time, you are not on a salary basis, but rather an hourly basis. In this case, you would not typically be paid if you take off work (unless you have sick time that you can use).

Ask your employer which days go towards each paycheck (for example, the week may run Wed-Tues and you receive your paycheck on Friday) and mark out those dates on your calendar with different color markers. That way, you know which dates account for each paycheck!

Good luck!

First I assume you are referring to pay not salary. When you get a salary you received the same pay no matter how many hours you work.

With most companies with hourly pay they do not pay you the first week. You get paid a week after the pay period ends to allow them the time to process the payroll. When you quit the pay will catch up.

It is possible that a company would pay you the first week and then adjust the following week's pay to account for days missed. This is up to the company. In any case it still takes one pay period to process the prior payroll.

It depends on the place you work. Most places pay you on friday for the prior week. Because they need time to get your check ready. So, you will get paid on the 16th for any work you did from the 3rd through the 9th. Look in your employment guide it should tell you which days your pay day goes through.....for example monday through sunday or sunday through friday. They will explain it to you. Very few places will pay you on Friday for the work you did that week.

Most places will be different, but if you are steady with your work and never waver, you should keep to a weekly salary.
