shoot more. 100% of the shots you dont take dont go in so shoot more. and you will mayb have more success. Also try switching positions. wHEN playing centre you are more of a play maker than scorer so see if you cn try out lw or rw.

First of all, why would you care? If your team is winning, that's the important thing. As long as you win, who cares who scores? But, if you just want to be a better overall hockey player and it's not about being selfish...

It's all about your shooting skills and positioning and learning to play without the puck. The top snipers in the game are usually not the top playmakers. They don't control the play in the offensive zone and they don't do a lot of passing. They finish plays. This means they have developed a great shot through practice, and they know how to get in position to take a pass and get it on net. They know how to play without the puck.

Convince your coach that you want to be a better hockey player and learn how to play without the puck. He's probably got you AT center because the center's job is to make plays and CENTER the puck to the wingers. Wingers play without the puck more than centers do. Suggest that you'd like experience at one or both wing positions. You can tell him that you don't think you're scoring enough but that your interest isn't just about scoring goals but being better at more things. Maybe he'll buy it, but I think that if he thought you weren't shooting enough and looking to make a pass rather than take the shot, he'd have already said something to you, so my guess is that he's happy with you getting assists and helping the team that way.

Another thing you can do, and should, is read books about the subject. There are plenty of them out there. One I can recommend (Bobby Orr and Dino Ciccarelli recommend it too) is 'Hockey Drills for Scoring' by Newell Brown and Vern Stenlund. Search Google and you'll turn up others.

Good luck.

Develop better chemistry with your line mates. You can start a tic-tac-toe pass or a give and go which would result in your goal, not assist. Another idea is to get in font of the net when your teammates have the puck in the corner. If they force it to the middle, you can get your stick on it, resulting in a good and sometimes lucky deflection.

Crash the net hard when your linemates have the puck and get the rebound and put it home!! It is also really easy to score when you have the natural ability to deke really well.

Shoot the puck into the net. Take cheap shots at the goalie whenever possible.

the quickest way is either stay high in the slot for the one timer or go hard to the net for any rebounds deflecttions or bounces off your body
