2000 is a bit high, even for a cold weather start. When you first start it, the ECU (computer) idles faster and with a richer fuel mixture, usually around 1200 rpm.

You cannot adjust the idle speed, as it is computer controlled. There are several systems that control idle speed, including a system that adjusts for when the air conditioner is on. You need to run the diagnostic codes.

I know this is alot of information, but it sound like you haven't done any testing yet.

Pulled straight off of online service information. I can't name the company. Don't listen them, you can adjust the idle on your 93 accord. What is it? ex, lx etc. also try resetingyour ecm. remove HAZARD or BACKUP or CLOCK fuse for ten seconds, to reset ECM.

2000 rpm isn't too bad. It is a little high don't worry about it if your not throwing codes. It should be 1400 when warming up. When the engine is warm the base idle should be 550 RPM. If the idle is low, turn the idle air screw on the top of the throttle body at the 11 to 12 o’clock position to raise the idle speed. Then plug in the IAC valve and check the idle increases to 720 to 820 RPM after code 14 has been cleared. If the idle does not increase, check the Engine Control Module (ECM) control of the IAC valve on the Black/Blue wire. The lower the voltage the higher the idle should be.

If the idle is strong but rough (that is, not stumbling but just a lot of vibration) and it has an automatic transmission the most likely cause is the rear engine mount. That mount is supposed to soften hydraulically at idle in gear and be firm under all other conditions. With age the actuating lever gets stiff and the mount stays in the firm mode, which accounts for the shake. It is controlled by a vacuum line from a vacuum switch on the top of the firewall (engine side) right near the center. You can pull the hose off and check for vacuum with your finger. The mount is almost inaccessible but if you have a high tolerance to heat on your arm you can reach down and try to move or help the actuator lever by fingertip. The part is about $150 on line, so I have not seen fit to replace it in my daughter's car.

2000 sounds a little bit high..might be something wrong with it...It is a 93' and fuel injected most of them have a throttle kickdown. Like most cars when they are cold they idle a little faster..just to keep them from dying. When they warm up usually the idle speed decreases to about 500-1000. It sounds to me like a bad sensor or egr valve. I would take the car to autozone or other automotive store where they will hook the car up to a handheld computer for free to diagnose the car....then you may have a mechanic fix the car...There really is no way to "adjust" the idle on a fuel injected car and have it run right.

It probably just idles at 2000 rpm's because the choke is on. After you drive it for a while and it gets warm does your idle go down? They should usually be around 800-1000 rpm's at the most. There's really no way you can tune it because it's controlled by computer. You'd have to take it to a mechanic to get it tuned.
