Hello BodhiSativa -

Pampas Grass (Cortaderia sp) will usually come back - it all depends on how long the plant has been established in its current location and how severe the damage (I am assuming cold/freeze condition). The plant is highly adaptable (such as here, in Southern California, where it can be a weed). My mom even tried burning her's down (and succeeded) but the Pampas Grass just came back the following year. :)

Best advice is you can do nothing but wait until the weather warms up. Do not overwater or fertilize it at this time of year. Just hope for the best; and if it has been there long enough - I guarantee it will come back again in a couple of months.

Good luck,
Chris

After reading Chris C's answer to you it is easy to see why Australia has declared Pampas Grass a weed.

Usually yes it does. But if you live in a cold climate and no snow cover sometimes it will get killed during the winter months and not regrow.

My neighbor has a large one that has been growing for years. Maybe it would depend on where you live. We are in Texas so that may make a difference. Your local nursery can help you out.
Hope this helps..

Unfortunately. This is one of my least favorite grasses. Where I live they get huge. They have such sharp leaves that they can cut you.
