no, prenatals don't have any real calories or fiber to allow you to gain weight. Over eating beyond what your doctor tells you to eat makes you gain weight. You are NOT eating for two. Your baby only needs 300-400 more calories.
Prenatals supply you with viamins and nutrients you may not be getting in your regular diet. Added insurance for a healthy baby.

Vitamins do not make you gain weight for hardly any calories but are excellent to make sure that you get all the nutrients that you need to be in top health and that your baby will then share that excellent health with you. Some of the ingredients like Folic Acid will also guard your baby from birth defects and disease. To deavelop in the womb and be a very healthy baby it is vital,so very important that all the necessary nutrients be taken. Its impossible to eat all the foods and the amounts to acomplish this and why the vitamins are taken.

My prenatals made me so sick to my stomache that I ended up just taking Flintstone chewables. Grape flavor only. LOL. Or now that I am in my 3rd trimester I can also tolorate Viactiv chocolate chews. I take the multi vitamin and calcium chews every day. I am not sure if that answered either of your questions, but that was just my experience with prenatals. Good luck.

First of all everytime you become pregnant you will be tol to take prenatal vitamins for the simple fact as the baby begins to form in your body he/she begins to take all your vitamins and if you don't have enough in your system you can become very ill. Hope this helps- and have a wonderful Valentines day!

No, they dont make you gain weight. Most of us eat like junk, they just make sure you have enough nutrients when we dont eat so well. They have everything for the babys brain to develop properly! I have 16 month old twins, and I was never prescribed prenatals with them. They came out at 6.6 lbs, and 7.1 lbs, 19 and 19 1/2 inches, and came LATE! They arent necessary, but if your unsure about how you eat, take um anyways, they are good for you and baby. BTW, I didnt eat good when I was pregnant, and they are so big and smart now!
