why do they have to talk about it? Can't we put the "feminine needs" things in a closet in the back of the supermarket and pretend it really doesn't happen?

Heh - if men had periods they would brag about the volume of their flow and proudly buy the largest sanitary pads in the store :P

So, be glad it's just women that have them.

Hey, let me see you bleed for seven freaking days while getting one of the worst painful feelings one can have! Maybe we want to talk about it because it's annoying and we want to share something that a million other women have in common. And what do you mean pretend it doesn't happen? It happens. Get over it. If you don't like it, live under a rock.

Shut up and be happy that you don't have a period.

I know my friends and I bring it up to boyfriends because honestly, it's a part of our lives (no matter how disgusting it may be). Think of it this way, the fact that a girl is bringing it up means she's comfortable around you. It's also a warning that over a span of 5 seconds her personality could change drastically, and it's really not your fault. It can be a big source of anger, frustration, discomfort or even worry for us. Your best bet? Buy the said woman a chocolate bar, she will thank you.

Why in the hell would you do that? Being ashamed of natural physiology? Not that you have to chat about it with every stranger, but it's like, I dunno... cutting hair. I can't believe you. You must be a republican (that is the worst insult I know)
Women talk about it because sometimes they have problems that others might know about, like everything else. The thing to keep in mind is that it's just another natural part of being a woman. And stick with the guy who bangs your azz.

I'm with you! Too much information! I'm 54 and no one would ever utter a word in public about the subject. Girls spoke in hushed tones to each other - guys were excluded and ads on TV were unheard of. We managed to be happy and healthy - what is the point? The consumers are guaranteed by nature. At least the openess lets me know for sure I'm not going to be an unplanned grandma!

I'm single, and all male, and I keep some of those products in a bathroom drawer in case female guests need them. Buch up, it's part of life.

Interesting question sweetie, but you still seem very young. It is a natural process and when you get married it is going to be in your face even more. Try getting use to it.
