BC - Before Christ
AD - Anno Domini (Latin for 'year of Our Lord')

Refering to years before, or after, the birth of Jesus.

BC is Before Christ and AD is Anno Domini or the years following Christ's death. Currently, we do not use these terms. We opt instead for BCE (Before the Common Era) and CE (Common Era) which refer to the same points in time as BC and AD respectively.
