weight is usually a give away. if it feels light and tinny then its usually a fake. you could always take it to a jewellers and ask their opinion

the best clue is to see how the hands move. It should be in a smooth motion without ticking or retracting motion, effortlessly smooth. Also, check for a serial number.
There are plenty of books and websites that are quite informative. Otherwise, as the others suggested, take it to a jeweler.

I think you will find it has a number on the back,as all genuine ones are reg; If in doult do take it to a dealer he will be able to tell you right away.

crack it open. look on the inside of the back cover if it says rolex you are in business
