People rag on you Ashley for asking dumb questions, as for me, I like some of them, like this one for instance. I have no idea what my opinion is on this one, but I still like the question.

Society tries to make the homosexual a second class citizen so by 'acting' like someone straight you're basically trying to say you're good enough because you don't want to be less of a human being. Gay men seek out the "straight acting man" because it's a status symbol to some. "My boyfriend is just as good as all those other boyfriends out there."

I hate the stereotype and that's exactly what it is. People can be as "straight acting" as they want. They're still gay! If we don't like the negative stereotypes society pushes upon us we shouldn't support ones that seem to be acceptable within the gay culture as well. We should embrace the differences within the LGBT community because the truth is no gay guy or girl is just like another. Our uniqueness should be celebrated instead of codemned and the "straight" stereotype only keeps us from being able to do so.

I've asked this question here as well.

Guys mean masculine when they say "straight acting".

By misnaming it straight acting they are implying that all gay men are feminine....and therefore by society's standards less valuable.

It is self hating, pure and simple.

Well, I think that what they are really doing is just reinforcing the stereotype of effeminate gays. By even bringing it up, they are kind-of implying that the "straight-acting" ones are the exception, which is not the case, in MY opinion.
