LOL, Ignore all of the people who say halo 2 because they proved that Gears Of War was a halo killer and i even loved halo until i played gears of war and it has awesome graphics, but i am not saying that halo 2 has bad graphics >.< but Gears of War is a halo killer

I think Xbox Live has already the spoken the truth about this one.
Only like a few days after GoW was released, the sound of "Running-Riot" has been totally demolished by the revving of chainsaws and "**** YEAH!"
The gameplay of Gears of War is far better than Halo 2, and after messing around with (censored), I don't find (censored =P) 3 quite different from Halo 2. Gears of War is sooooo realistic, and there are so many ways to watch a person die. I have not lost interest on ways to kill a person with a shotgun. You could shoot straight on, and the victim's body flies backward, the chest demolished. You could close range shoot their legs, and watch their body collapse as their legs fly out. You could shoot from different angles, the the body seemingly reacts to the bullet.
There is a little bit of this is Halo 2, Halo 2 is more friendly (I guess?), and watching people die is not as interesting. Does the character's head blow up in a mist of blood, while the body falls slowly, the gun slowly falling out of the hands STILL firing. Does body pieces rain down as a rocket strikes or a gernade is spiked (tagged) onto you.
Gears of War created many different ways to kill people, IE Curb Stomping, shot to the head, chainsaw, brutal hit to the body, smacking a gernade into someones body, blowing off people's head.
The melee in Gears of war is amazing, the screen shakes, the the enemy actually reacts when you melee, they are dazed, they lower their weapons. While In Halo, you just kind of, hit them and they keep firing.
I originally thought 3rd person shooters are pretty...retarded. But the fact on how Gears of War was created was amazing. It was almost...better than first person for me. You could watch your person, not just your gun!
So If I really had to say which one: Gears of War wins in a landslide.
But...there is also Rainbow Six Vegas!

Right Now - Gears of War
Overall - Halo 2, think about it, GoW and H2 are the top 2 games played on XBL, but H2 has been out for over two years and is still competing.

i playe dboth obviously, start to finish, and enojoyed both very much so. however i thought that gears of war played a little more fluidly. sometimes i found myself running around in halo trying to figure out what to do, and the leaps in story line sometimes left me pausing the game and truing to recall what happened last time. i say gears of war, but both excellent games.

GEARS OF conflict 2. COD 5 has way too lots lag in each console and has many device defects at the instant appropriate now. yet whilst achieveable get COD4, that's an excellent interest to have and has very severe-high quality pics.
