I have Mcafee Internet Security Suite 8 installed on my PC and my subscription runs out soon. I like this software because it is light on system resources and does a nice job.

So I have bought it again off Ebay (legit version) so as I can get another years subscription out of it.

The problem is when I install the version I have just bought, because it is the same version I already have, it won't let me renew my subscription. It just keeps telling me that my current subscription is about to expire.

I've tried re-registering it with a different email and password but it won't have any of it.

Anybody got any idea how I can get it to work?

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help because it leaves my registration info on my PC when I uninstall. If I could get rid of the registration info on my PC I think that might do it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The only suggestion that I can make is to run 'regedit' after you have uninstalled original and delete all references to MaCafee that you find - keep pressing F3 after each delete, a risky and lengthy job but I have carried this out myself with success.

You could also check to see if MaCafee has it's own software remover - as Norton has, this may well be the 'cure' for your dilemma...good luck.

uninstall then run a search with mcafee as part of the title this should uncover the whereabouts of this info for you so you can delete it
