It is because we follow a 100% democracy strategy in the country and the people over here are open minded and the most clever people in the Middle East. I have been to many Arab countries in the past few years and I haven't seen a country like Lebanon here in the Middle East which has so much freedom and people who are smart too.....

Who said lebanon is more liberal? How do you define liberty?

Taking a journalist into custody because he was doing his job?

Firing the journalist's brother because he was standing by his brother the one that was took to custody?

If freedom and liberty is by the way you act like the west or girls wearing mini-skirts than i don't think u saw any of the other arab countries.

Stop this rhetoric about a multi-culture too, most gulf countries are multi-cultural were the percentage of locals in them is less than 10% of the whole population

I don't think Lebanon is less religious than other Arab States, but the thing is that we do not have only 1 religion, we have 18 and we learn about them from living with the people, we share our beliefs so we influence each other and we try to tolerate each other's religion and respect them.
Lebanon is a mixture of cultures, it developed socialy faster than the surrounding Arab nations because European and US thinkers and artists used to come (and some still do) to Lebanon a lot and they influenced the people (like those who write in the newspapers and magazines and TV)...this is what makes a difference...
Besides Lebanese are one of a kind...I can't explain it but WE ROCK!!!!
Behind every good business in the world there is a Lebanese.

(Standing ovation)
Thank you people

As for now it can still be classified as liberal enough, but if Hezbollah takes full control of the country it would be the same as Iran ruled by religious zealots. May the Christians still control all the aspects of the government.

There is no separation between church and state here. On the contrary there is this "dualism in legal authority” in the Lebanese legal system.

The French mandate charter entrenched the influence of the clerics by limiting the authority of the state over religious issues.

Thank You!
