I am trying to apply to write for a technology blog, as a recent post of theirs offered people the opportunity to submit three sample posts written in the style of the blog to be considered for employment. However, as the website is a techno news blog, it is impossible to get news faster than they do. My question is, do they intend for me to revisit topics previously mentioned and write them as I would or do they honestly expect me to find things to write about that they have not yet covered? Please advise.

Most importantly, they want a writing sample in order to gauge the the quality of your writing and whether it is appropriate for the online environment (there are resources for guidelines for writing online if you haven't explored them). I wouldn't worry if your samples include topics which have been covered already. Focus on selecting your *best* writing - in a similar *tone* as the blog. Although since its tech writing, you may want to also select fairly recent and relevant subject matter (i.e. not news from two years ago).
Good luck.
