Well make sure you have pics of it. I am not know how they do things there in Canada. I would have called the main office in the USA and tell them what the Canadian branch is doing. The American side might tell them to replace the whole carpet since according to us, they damaged it. Just like my brother had an accident and they had to paint the whole fender not just a small area. Well I know one thing. You know the insurance company from Home Depot will definitely try to screw you just like the American will, so we both got something in common. lol But that is one of those things where you might have to go to a lawyer. Here in the states the first consultation is free, cuz if you have a case then they work on contingency and again I do not know how they do it there. Well Good Luck, on the carpet. For future reference, if you ever have any work done, make sure they are bonded and take a pic of the work before preferable with one of the workers in the pic to ensure validity. In my stupider days, I just happened to take a pic of a contractor doing work on this rental house I was in. I had put some lovely bushes there. I had gotten a pic, but it was mainly of my nephew and they were in the background. I came back two weeks later from vacation and the bushes were gone. They said the bushes were never there. We argued and I had no proof till the pics came out. I took it to the sorry sack of s hit and showed him about the bushes and told him I was suing him like big time. Well, I got some new bushes and I got a 20 foot walk way. I told him the time to grow the bushes plus the "imaginary fertilizer" and top soil I had spent. I told him If i sued it would be a lot more than that so he did it. But last time I use him and definitely will not recommend that sorry sack. But home depot uses sub contractors so I did not have Home depot responsible. Maybe I should have but I got what I wanted and the guy I rented from did not mind the free walkway. I told him I did it and got a discount on the rent too. A win win situation.
