because it's kinda hard to see through flesh to get to his/her personality

it is human nature for us to judge things by looks. if you saw some one with tattos and peircings you might make generalizations, or people wearing certain clothes you can be like oh look that persons a snob they're dressed all preppy or look that person must be wierd or freaky they're dressed gothic. we all do it at some point it is hard to control our assumtions
also sometimes what you lok like on the outside reflects the person you are if you're are wearing dirty sweatsuits you are most likely to be lazy......and so on....

everyone is judged on their appearance. especially in in the business world. like it or not it's a fact.
would someone in charge of hiring someone for a business position, say dealing with the public hire someone with a bunch of face piercings and dreadlocks. no they would not.
would you consider hiring someone weighing say 300# for a teen clothes store?
even if that person was qualified they would not get hired.
i am in charge of hiring for my company and i make decisions based on appearance all the time.

Because others cant accept what they see in others that they would probably not want (or would) to see in themselves. These types of people want to think they are superior that the ones they are judging, so they decide certain (false) characteristics about that person and stick to them like glue. Most of the time it is also envy...

Because outside appearance reflects who we are on the inside.
Someone fat shows they don't care about their health and don't put forth the energy to exercise or eat well.
Someone dirty shows they lack the intelligence and/or social decency to shower and be clean.
Someone in slutty clothing is showing she is sexual and easy.
Think about it - would you present yourself any way that wasn't true to you? Would you wear skimpy clothing if you weren't sexually promiscuous? Would you go days without showering if you had to be around other people? Of course not. Our outside reflects who we are on the inside!

Because that is the way society is. A lot of people see me as a gloomy person when I am not. So, you can't change the way society look at people.

Because it's the first thing ppl see. If you were to see an ugly/hideous monster for the first time, your saying you would see the inner personality first?

It's not so much that people like to do that, it's that their biology compels them to do that. The minute we perceive something, the brain puts it into a category.

because many many people are very shallow and thats what they look at even when it shouldnt matter.
