A behavior management chart reflects accountability, responsibility, and character development. They're more typical for an individual student, but depending on the age of the students, you can do a classwide one. You could implement a chart where each student either gives themselves a star or not based on how they are behaving and following directions in a specific period of time (the older the students are, the longer the time period can be and still be effective). However, the chart in and of itself isn't going to work if it isn't attached to some tangible reward. You need to find something that the whole class will work for, a party at the end of the week or month (or something smaller at the end of each day if they're little), or a certificate sent home to Mom. Whatever you give them should be contingent on how many stars (or smiley faces, stickers, hearts, anything) they accumulate in the time period you have previously determined. If you want to make it even more effective, you can require that not only must each person have a certain number of stars, but the party can only happen if every person is able to attend. There are other ideas, but this is what came to my mind first.

can't it reflect accountability as you, the teacher, hold the students accountable? it shows responsibility by having one, and character development by following through?

we are. they did no longer attend simply by fact they knew that we would have placed them over the coals. Now tell me how Democrats have finished with their poisonous politicians like Gore and Kerry. Oh you revere them.
