I have a Play Station 3 and I have been playing it with the regular a/v cables it came with on our Sony 46" HDTV (1080p). I recently bought a $15 HDMI cable (male to male). I connected this cable from the PS3 to the Television. I then proceeded to turn on the TV and then the PS3. When I turned on the PS3, the TV did nothing. I checked all the Video Input Channels: Darkness..... It was as if my PS3 was not being recognized by the TV. Did I buy a faulty cable? or do I need to tune the TV to a specific digital channel. What channel do you use???? (if you have a PS3 and have an HDMI cable).
Sidenote:
In the instruction booklet for the TV, Sony says to use a cable that has the HDMI logo printed on the cable. My cable had no writing on it.. So is it an invalid cable or am I tuning to the wrong channel??

The cable could be faulty. That's a very inexpensive price for an HDMI cable. If you checked all of the HDMI input channels on your TV and checked to see if your PS3 doesn't need to be set on HDMI output, then besides refering to your owner's manuals, I don't know what else to tell you.

plug it into the back of the ps3, then to HDMI slot in the t.v. then turn on the ps3 and go over to settings. go to display settings and choose your output type. change it from composite (assuming you were using red yellow and white cables before the HDMI cable) and click on HDMI. then it will tell you what to do from there. once it has been configured which i just told you how to do, it will actually be using the capability of the HDMI cable.

buy a RF modulator and turn tv to channel 3. It's much easier and sdtv is good enough anyway.
