The things I found that I use the most information wise is what are good and bad foods, toxic foods and woods.
Medical conditions and symptoms as chinchillas don't associate to pain and hide it well. That not every chinchilla is the same, they all have their own little or big personalities.
That you need to make sure you have a knowledgeable vet in the area. There are many things that you can only learn by being an owner though.

Here is a link with a good collection of information.

The last thing I will say is when you think you have them all figured out they decide to test you and show you something new.

Look i know nothing of them, and i just got two!!!!
But i did find out that with time (a few days) they do become friendly!!! Be patient and be kind!!!!! And in time they become a part of the family. So thats what i am told.
My daughter loves them for now, and says she'll love forever!! at least till my boyfriend feeds them to his Boa!!!!!
