i am 52, married 32 yrs. hardly worked to earn the amount of credits i need for retirement. husband says i will not be able to draw his because not worked enough. is this so?

I am not totally sure about this. Your husband may be right but to make sure call the ssi office and ask them this. They will be able to tell you more. I think that since he is entitled to it that you may be though but maybe you yourself cant get it til you reach retirement age.

Is he still alive? If he is ....No. Is he dead? If he is....Yes you can. Check with ssi. They're in the phone book. I do know that for a 52 year old to collect benifits from their husbands benifits the husband has to be deceased. If your 62 years old you can be considered retired and collect your own benifits. You better check with Social Security before you start an argument with your husband.
