There is no rule of thumb, but I think it is a good idea to send an personal thank you to everyone. This is particularly true if you have something specific you can point out about your individual interviews. For example: "Thank you taking the time to meet with me this past Thursday. I enjoyed our discussion about _____. Your insight further heightened my desire to work for____. I look forward to hearing from you shortly."
However, it is equally acceptable to send out one letter to the person who lead the interview and ask that person to thank the others on your behalf. It really is personal preference. My law school has a pretty good discussion on thank you letters -- albeit relating to legal interviews, but I think applicable to all interviews.

Do a generic 'thank you for the interview' letter to the human resources department. You want to especially address the person who makes the final decision in the letter.
If you have the names of the persons you spoke with, put a little emphasis on the impact they made on you in the interview that separated them from the basic generic interview, i.e. humor. Tell them how much you enjoyed the experience and hope not to have to use it again, but perhaps with them because you'll be working with them. If you sound excited in the letter, then it will show. Don't send eight letters. It will show 'brown noser' instead 'really want'. End with 'Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you'. Works pretty well for me - personal experience on my part.

Great idea to write a thank you letter. Your best option is to go to the store and put that letter into the hands of someone you know will give it to the right person. I'm sure Target's Customer Service center will help you. Don't send the letter to someone's home. That could appear strange, and businesses are a little testy about work-home relations. Like, you don't call an employee at home in most situations. So I wouldn't send them a letter to their home, either.

Immediately send a letter to the top person you interviewed with and CC: (carbon copy) each person you interviewed with and send a copy of the letter to them as well......Here is an example:
Dear Top Dog,
This correspondence is being sent to express my appreciation for the time you took to review my candidacy for the position you have available at your firm. I feel that my credentials, my career orientation and my enthusiasm will be a great asset. I look forward to our future interaction and a mutually beneficial relationship.
Very truly yours,
Ms. Gimme the damn job
GTDJ/gtdj
CC: Ms 2nd interviewer
Ms. third interviewer
Ms 4th interviewer
etc etc
(ps....I could use a new job.... ya better hire me when you climb the ladder.....good luck,)

I was in the same situation. I mailed all of them a letter.
Three paragraphs:
1. General opening paragraph for everyone
2. Individualized second paragraph why you're the best for the position - relating something specific that person mentioned or did signifigant for the position.
3. General closing paragraph for everyone.
Trust me it's worth it.

You might want to email them all. It easier for them than checking the mail at a mailbox or at work
