it is a late 1980's panasonic laptop and it has a floppy disk drive ( 3 and 1/2 floppy a)

Sure there are. They can be hard to find nowadays but I found an archive of Win 3.1 programs including some games at http://www.thefreewaresite.com/win_3.1.html

Search hard enough and you can find lots of older games that were written for DOS. Things like Doom, Wolfenstein 3d, Commander Keen.
