The standing right wing spin is that the war in Iraq needs to be fought to 'protect freedom'.....riiiight....

Well, Iraq had nothing to do with 911......

Just how did invading and occupying Iraq strengthen our freedoms, when the occupation is what is fueling the insurgency?

it has not done anything to protect our freedom for it was never a question of our freedom it was a fight to get out the man that tried to kill daddy and what everyone forgets is that the mess in Iraq is our problem for we are the ones that armed Saddam in the first place and placed him in power to stem off a power grab by Iran and to control the oil from the middle east. Course when one wants to justify something wrong they would always overlook the truth for it is as Gore says in this administration merely inconvenient, if anything we have done more to hurt our freedom with going to Iraq than not going, without going we would still have creditability in the world now we are known as war mongers and liars and threats to other nations

If you believe Iraq under the control of Sadaam was a threat to our freedom, then yes. If not, then you most likely realize that the war has created more chaos in the middle east and increased many other country's dislike for the United States.

While I totally oppose Bush and his illegal war, the one thing in hindsight that I do realize is that it is better to be fighting the war there as opposed to here in on our soil.

Many people have argued that Bush has created a playground for the terrorist of the world to meet and fight. While this is true, is it not better that they are fighting there rather than continuing to fight here?

I dont think the war has protected our freedoms. We have no business there. I along with a majority of America, supported the move against the Taliban in Afghanistan but Bush blew that support and attacked a country that did not attack us. He also used falsified intel from the Israelis and tried to pursuade people into supporting this illegal war.

It's a shame.

Protecting our freedoms from other countrys is fine when it's ligit.what we need is to protect our freedoms from our own goverment, they are slowly being taken away and re-written as we speak.an example, our right to free speach in public places, smoking bans (and no I am not a smoker) the seat belt laws(for our own safty!) if they are so worried about our safty why are they cutting funding for Hospitals and raising prices on ins and meds? We all need to start paying attention to what's going on right hear under our noses in America!

I don't know what freedoms of mine are being protected, but I do know that there have been many taken away, thanks to the Patriot Act. I also know that there have been too many of our soldiers killed due to this "war", along with too many innocent civillians in Iraq.

I love the United States, but I don't believe anything our president says.

I'm with you. Like Iraq is our biggest threat. Now, because
of Bush wanting to play war, it seems a new & bigger
country speaks out against us everyday.
