can a convicted or ex felon have a firearm legally?do they have to get special permission or something?I just watched a news program about carrying a concealed weapon or having it on your seat.I assume it will be debated for a while.will someone explain,please?

No. It is illegal for an ex felon (which is a different and higher category of offenses than misdemeanor crimes) to obtain a permit for a weapon. There are ways to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon in some states but you usually have to be a member of law enforcement, an ex military serviceperson or otherwise demonstrate that your life and responsibilities put you in extreme danger which warrant you having the need for weapons protection. You should note that these laws vary state by state....another reason why it is illegal to transport guns across state lines.
