And why is no one in Congress or the press asking why?

Because if he did not hold meetings like this one in secret he would not get away with turning this country into a police state. Remember this is an Administration that pushed through the first Patriot Act that was printed at 3:45 A.M. and voted on 11:00 A.M. the same day. Hardly any members of Congress was able to read it. They also added last minute insertions to the Military Commissions Act of 2006 behind closed doors between Republican Congressional leaders and presidential advisers. The Bush Administration does stuff like this to push through legislation that erodes the basic civil liberties granted to us by our Bill of Rights with little or no resistance from the public. It is all under the rouse that it is for our own protection and to protect us against terrorist attacks. Funny, that is similar to what every other dictator and tyrannical government has said in the past. As for the press, they pretty much are governmental controlled anyway. The government does not want them to report on something that is concidered "national security" and that would infringe on their "ability to fight terrorism." Remember what happened to the New York Times for reporting the illegal wiretapping. They were accused of leaking vital information to national security and helped the terrorists. If they do report on things like this it is usually a very brief report and doesn't include what the law actually can do or does. So much for the free press Thomas Jefferson spoke of.

So let me get this straight. First of all everyone jumps all over the President for not doing enough during Hurrican Katrina and now that he signs an act making it easier to deploy the Natl Guard your still not happy?

Oh and to circumvent the Posse Comitatus act the President must inform that Intelligence Commitee as to why he is doing it.

Get both sides of the story please.

Did someone say thick as thieves.

Bush is nothing more or less than a little dictator. He will end up the same as those who came before him.
