the list of problems that can cause this is too long without more info.
need make model year engine automatic or standard transmission and possibly with without A/C.
fuel injected models have different problems than carburetor models.
automatic transmissions models have different problems than manual transmission model.
on some models with A/C the idle is set by a control module depending on whether A/C is on or not. some models actual run A/C periodically when heater is on.
most models run A/C when defrosters are on.

Does it seem like it's just running too slow, or does it act like you aren't pushing in the clutch for a manual transmission? If the latter, it could be the torque converter locking up on you.

Among many other things...Poor gas, gas w / H2o, can cause poor performance and engine failure including hard to start and stalling. I mention this because bad gas is not uncommon and easy to check and easy to remedy...just use a gas from a high quality station and see what happens......Good luck

well I dont know it depends on the type of car you have. It could be a carborater isue or a computer issue. You should talk to the guys on car talk. its on your city public radio station. Your radio station might not have it though. What station do you have?

this could be a number of things.....your battery, your timing(how does it idle), water in your fuel, check your air filter
