Go to Bearded Dragon.org for the most knowledgeable people I've found on the web when it comes to Beardies. Sorry I can't recommend a pet store as I have heard too many horror stories. They often sell their babies much to small and give poor advice. Please do not use sand as a substrate no matter what the pet stores tell you. I have heard good things about several breeders but do some research on your own first! My advice, by from a breeder, not a pet store, especially not a large chain type store.

well find a store that knows the exact hatching date of the bearded dragons, find out where they came from, how many other dragons they were housed in and also make sure they were captive bred. we sell our baby bearded dragons for abouy $49.99. this is in dunkirk new york mind you. we also have a private breeder that breeds just for us. so we know they are not sick or ill, or maltreated before we get them.i dont know how petco or petsmart handle their animals....but try to find a reptile rescue organization. if you cant find one, make sure you have enough money. buy all the equipment first THEN shop around for the beardie. youre gonna need a 55-preferabble 95 gallon tank ( shallow and wide) a basking bulb, a night time heating bulb, a uvb/uvb full spectrum light, a fixture to hold all your bulbs. a water dish, a constant supply of veggies and crickets, sand or turf substrate, vines, hiding places....research more on these guys, make sure you know what you are getting in to!
