This will be my first time. Soooo scared and nervous.

Will the injection hurt ? What will happen ?

Can Mum stay with me ? What does "going to sleep" feel like ?

Yes, it hurts a lot. They will actually give you a rag to bite down on. (Just kidding) No, seriously, it doesn't hurt but a pinch.

Don't be goofy though. You're asking identical questions, and in some of them, you're an "adult". What gives?

REPORT ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your mom can't go in with you, and the injection is like any other. The falling asleep part though is soooo cool. I totally thought I could fight it, but the doctor said count backwards from 10 to one, and I was out on 8. That part was really neat. Waking up though was awful. I WAS FROZEN! So I was shaking and stuff and they gave me a lot of warm blankets but it didn't help. Not all people have that though, I am just a little bit sensitive to it. Some people wake up and are a little drowsy but fine.

There is nothing to be scared about, really. It is pretty cool all in all, and I HATE needles, so that is something major for me to say.

I'm a great fan of general anesthetic...you go to sleep and when you wake up the surgery is over. The only draw back is that they forcefully wake you up. No it doesn't hurt, the iv going in will sting a little but getting the anesthetic doesn't hurt. You will fee "light headed" and the best advice I can give you is to just go with it. Don't fight the anesthetic because that will only make it worse and they will have to give you more which will make recovery time more difficult. Just relax, go to sleep and when you wake up all done.

no it won't hurt, let them know how scared and nervous , you are and they ( the nurse) will give you something for that, really...tell them...What will happen is you ll just go to sleep, no worries and mum can stay with you until they wheel you in and by that time ( IF, you told them your scared and they gave you a pill or shot first) you won't even care that mum isn't going in all the way with you...when you wake up it will all be done....I'll be praying for peace and a good out come for you...think positive....talk to God, you'll be just fine

your mom cant go in with you. the only thing you will feel is the iv going in but it only hurts for a few seconds. the going to sleep part is quick. you feel very sleepy and then suddenly they are waking you up. you wont feel the injection at all or you shouldnt it may burn just a little. good luck with you upcoming surgery try not to worry it will be fine

there is nothing to be afraid of I have had this several times. the nurse will come in and tell you everything step by step....they will start an i.v. and this will sting a little...kind of like stepping on a sticker..yes your mother should be able to stay with you until they take you back for your procedure...ask the doctor to stay with you while they put you to sleep...they will put a mask with oxygen on your face and have you start counting to 100 you will be asleep before you get to 10 most of the time and you will never even know it..i hope this helps calm your fears..
