My current (crap) operating system is win xp pro, 999mhz, 128mb ram, and a maxtor hard drive 20 gig which makes loads of noise..

I recently broke my new pc but if i duplicate the hard drive on the maxtor 40 gig in my newish pc to resemble the xp i have in the operating system above what results can i expect to see the one in my new computer looks - runs really good..

Should i tear it out an copy what i have now? and replace the loud one? Will it be faster??

a loud hard drive usually means the bearing for the discs are going bad. the drive should be replaced as soon as possible before it stops and the data is unretreivable.

it probably wont be any faster, but it will save you from tearing all ur hair out when you lose everything on the drive like i did on one of my old comps.

the best way to make your computer faster is by putting in more RAM. it's by far the biggest bang for the buck. a new hard drive wont make much difference unless you pay a lot more.

Just add more RAM. thats the cheapest and most effective way. however, 999MHz is really slow. its time to buy a new PC!
