This is for debate. I am a Northern delegate. Is there anything anyone could have done (North and South)
Could we have avoided a Civil War?

Honestly, there wasn't much they could've done to prevent the war. The major crisis of the war actually began when the Constitution was drawn up before the birth of this nation. The issue of states rights vs federal rights ultimately led to the Civil War. For example, the central issue of the war was not slavery. Slavery was only a minor issue of a much larger problem...that being states rights. That was what the Kansas-Nebraska Act was all about. It was to answer the question on who had the right to declare whether a new state was either a slave or free state. In the end, the choice was given to the people (Popular sovereignty) through voting.

no i think the missouri kansas compromise was politically a disaster set up by douglas and backed by franklin pierce. the nail of the coffin was the harpers ferry revolt the whole world knew that in 1860 who ever was the leader of the north was would have to handle a war

The North could have given in to southern blackmail and agreed to never do anything to halt the expansion of slavery--even into its own borders.
Or when the southern states started seceding, the north could have simply wished them a fond farewell.

Yes. A revolution in angle in the direction of wish and greed. With the have to guard your self and neighborhood. The cave in of the US Empire below the load of its debt will go away folks sitting round ready in useless for the nanny state to rescue them. (or fox / ccn information inform them what to do) Be ready for difference.
