i totally agree with the what happened to traditional names. who the heck ever thought apple was a great name?!?!? lol!!! its like hmmm... did you look at your child and think you look like an apple i like apples so thats what ill call you. hahaha. i do not have any children yet (we are ttc!!!!) but my first boy will be zachary (i have loved this name since i was little, just dont know of a good middle name, and i love the name kayley for a girl, just dont know how i would spell it there are so many different ways) yes my fave girl name is newish, but i love it. and the name zachary seems like a good strong powerful name that you dont hear a lot (at least i dont). when naming your kids people should try to name them somethng that no one will make fun of later in life., or something people can actually pronounce!!!

I total agree exept I don't think the odder the better. Where did names like Sophie, Paul, Mary, Sue, Mark, and Joe go? I know some people still use them, but know names are like Kayden and Koushiar and strange middle and last names too like stuff I can't even pronounce.

Mmmm, they are outdated. I think misspelled names are very ghetto. And every time I hear one I assume the person is poor and uneducation. I know that's wrong, but it's a perception that goes with the name. Wasn't their a biblical verse about the worth of a name?
I like Old Fashioned names. Sophia is very popular! I'd use it if it wasn't on the top ten for the past five years. And, the new trend is spelling it Sofia. Sofia is the way the Italian's spell it.
I am having a girl and considering some classics:
Sylvia Rose (Call her Sylvie)
Mena Rose
Maria Novella (very classic)
I also like Evelyn and calling her Evie. Agnes is getting popular too...just had a friend name her daughter that.

Sophie and Paul are actually both relatively popular these days. Neither are in the top 100, but they are almost there.
I agree though, many people name their children something "original" in order to get away from the common names of old, but now these original names are just as common as names like "Jennifer" were in the '80s.

I totally agree! In my huge family we have Phillip, Russell, Paul, Sharon, Dorothy, Sarah, Charlotte, Olivia, Jacob, Alexandra, Melissa, Maureen, Claire, Matthew, Michael, Scott, Isabella, Susan, John, Diana, James, Katherine, Peter, Samantha etc. Sophie is actually a really popular name nowadays. I think they will make a comeback though.

Sophie, especially Sophia is very popular here. Paul had his day but I am sure he'll be back again in 15 to 20 years. :)
"Old fashioned" traditional names are becoming the cool name to have!!
Isabella, Charlotte, Henry, etc.

I think names are always revolving and coming in and out of fashion. Grace is coming back. Sophie and Sophia are pretty popular right now actually.

In this day and age, people want to be different and I agree no one wants to be cookie cutter. Traditional names seem to carry with them certian images that you may or may not want to saddle your kids with. For instance Imogene; makes you think of what? Would you want your daughter to have to fit that. If you want to name your child something traditional try to spell it differently like Dyana vs. Diana.

Some people like the WEIRD names. I think you should have pity on the kid. Strange names and spelling are difficult and make it really hard to live with. Weird names are prone to harassment.
Mine are Michael, Kristen, Brian and Steven
