It's a disgrace what has become of our manufacturing base, the backbone of America. Once upon a time, we made everything in America, people had good jobs and a secure future. When the next collapse of our economy arrives, one of the causes will be the extinction of the middle-class in America.

There's only one way to keep manufacturing jobs here in the states: we must be competitive on a global scale. That means we HAVE to reduce the final product cost and/or increase quality. Lower wages, lower taxes, innovation, quality control, and an increase in productivity.
Yes, we as a people (not our government) should do what it takes to keep middle class jobs.

we need to keep the jobs here for Americans as well...a guest worker program here would be fine as long as $16 an hour jobs aren't turned into $11 an hour jobs because illegal aliens are taking them.
Major American companies would be happy to have items made in third word countries, without having to abide with labor unions in the US asking for living wages, some sort of medical insurance and health/safety issues and then turn around and sell these things right back to us until they bleed us dry. the world certainly is a global economy, but American companies need to be forced to use American labor either through product selection by consumers or laws enacted by our government

Out sourcing jobs, to other countries, for the purpose of exploiting cheap labor, is both greedy and immoral. It is also bad for the country as a whole. The only people that benefit are the large corporations, that are doing it. They are putting profit ahead of people, which is wrong. But, not to worry....their Karma will get them sooner or later!!!!
