My husband and I have been together 19 years and last summer was the 1st "holiday" I took without him. My daughters and I travelled 7 hours north to visit my brother's family for 4 days. I have to say it was good to get away and perhaps because I was with family it helped, but I did miss him.
I think I would go away with a friend for a few days.

I personally enjoy being with my partner more than anyone else.
That said, I would go spend time with my friend alone if I knew it was not something he would enjoy. Bridal Shower weekends etc.... Down to see friends new baby that type of thing.
But I would not go do something that he wanted to do without asking him along.

I certainly would. I have been married 22 years and I think one of the reasons we've lasted so long is the fact that we can function and trust each other when we are apart.
