What is it about us that makes us unable to see the forest fro the trees sometimes? I asked a question a little while ago and had some answers that made no sense, the question was about questions had they all been asked not to say anything against but here was one who got hung up on the phrasing of the question and another who answered a completly different question.

This got me thinking about humans are sometimes wrong and don't even know it. As the exprersion goes 'not being able to see the forest for the trees'. Now in simple terms it is easy to get hung up on the small things and miss the bigger picture for obvious reasons, however there are cases where people see the bigger picture and miss what is going on any way.

My question is why do people miss what is going on around them? For example ONLY a man may work to provide for his family and work so much that he misses his kids growing up while another man in the same boat may not. Why?

Please explain your answers.
Thanks

some people are too busy with some things they forget the other. sometimes, out of a deeper reason, but most of the time, just out of.. say time or chances.

time is just a matter of how one does the budgetting and making the most of it. but a deeper reason calls for a deeper understanding most of us actually tend not to look into because we're too inclined to our own. we dont just miss things for no reason at all.

I think people miss much of what is going on around them because they are too busy making a living instead of a life... We are all creatures of habit. Example: If a man's father worked on the assembly line and he follows in his footsteps, most likely he will have a life much like his father's.

1.) He MAY be satisfied with that life, working long, physically draining hours, and MAY have chosen a woman of similar background who accepts it. Therefore, their children will assimulate into the family unit without greater expectation. However, once they become able to see other kids in a different life style, they may then chose to do more with their lives when they are older (go to college, a trade school, join the military, etc.) and break away from the family structure they are living in. This will only happen if they get the support from parents and those adults they respect. If not, they are apt to follow in the same footsteps.

2.) He may NOT be satisfied with the family unit he was a part of as a child. He may have wanted more time with his father, more quality time, and regrets and longed for that. HE may then choose to do something that will insure that he leads a life that is satifying and allows him to be the father he longed for when he was a child. By first hand experience, the desire may be strong enough to bring about this type of change. It will take a strong and focused individual to make this happen. Hopefully, he will choose a partner who will also aspire for this type of life, perhaps absent of some creature comforts, to maintain a fulfilling family unit together.

Because
the man who misses his children growing up wants to much stuff &
he has to work long hours to pay for it
where the other guy or I really should say his wife is satisified with what she has &
therefore her man can see his kids grow up
Is that what pleases you SIR? haha
