Okay I am getting very lost while I am trying to think of a thesis statement. My teacher wants me to do a persuasive essay for legalizing marijuana. My three subtopics are: reducing marijuana from a schedule 1 drug to a more regulated classification, the positive medical use of marijuana, and alcohol versus marijuana(effects). Can anybody please help me on this? I always have problems coming up with a thesis statement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While many people consider marijuana an illegal drug, there are several reasons why people should consider legalizing marijuana.
-basically what you need to say in your thesis statement is that you feel there are reasons why marijuana should be legal. Your three subtopics can then be details in the body.

It is very easy. Think in general terms. "X should be done because it is ...." Your X is legalizing marijuana. You seem to be saying that it should be done because it has positive medical benefits, it is less harmful than alcohol, and it is as harmless as a non-schedule 1 drug.
