Very, very few actually leave their wives. FInd someone who is single and build a relationship from the ground up. Those are the most stable.

Many, many married couples have one, if not both parties involved in adulturous situations. The problem is that leaving the spouse for the mistress is a terrible idea and the mistress should know this. If a husband cant be faithful to his wife, how can he be expected to act any fdifferently for the mistress? Men whom leave for the mistress find out quickly that they lost everything. The wife. The mistress. The trust of many around them.

It seems...
That if the wife stands firm and fights for the marriage, that the relationship with the mistress will generally wane. [ Especially if there are great assets and/or children involved; as he will use this time away from his wife's affections to re-evaluate his feelings toward his own marriage and it's ultimate value to him].
But
If the wife reacts with pushing the husband away, he will most likely cling to the mistress and continue on with her. And this wife (having cast him out) will possibly grant him a divorce, which would speed up the relationship btwn the exhubby and mistress.
And perhaps those two will hitch up. But this "new" relationship, which was based on selfishness, lust, adultry, lying, mistrust, and infidelity will eventually impolode/crumble on to itself or have a very difficult time keeping and maintaining stability. It would be doomed due to the "seeds" that they both planted were not of honor.
And I've seen that some people are creatures of habit, and when gal #2 succeeds in wedding the unfaithful husband, he will sometimes, turn right around and repeat the habit with the next gal. There is no pleasing some people. They just can't seem to maintain the honor of loving one single mate.

I would not in a million years leave my wife for a mistriss. The mistress is there for one thing and one thing only: SEX. The wife is family.

I took a marriage and family class at the local college and this subject came up. The pysh book said only 4% actually leave but if they do they have the same success rate of other 2nd marriages which isn't good only 25% of them work. Sorry

Well, I wasn't the mistress, but the other woman who was also still married. Since marrying him, he has given up drinking and the wild life and stays at home. Before, he ran around and partied and didn't come home for days to her. It was just a miserable marriage. We have been married 11years Feb. 17th. :)

I do not feel that this really happens all that often and if and when it does it is not usually successful for very long and ends up in disaster anyways. Do not get involved with a married man it is a recipe for disaster.

Well, Clinton didn't.
Trump did.
That's 1 did 1 didn't.
I'd say 50 50 but both these guys had numerous and they kind of cancel each other out.
I'd say unsuccesful.
