I have the same problem but i had red flashing walls, that made it worse, what u need is to have a good video card 128MB -256MB of memory and increase RAM to 1 GiG i have to do this as i installed pets and it was taking 1/2 an hour for my sim to go to the loo, there are some good sites you can join that answers all the sims 2 questions. You need more R.A.M. (Random Access Memory), for your laptop. You can go to Fry's or Best Buy. Tell them that you play Sims 2 and that it's lagging a lot. They'll most likely say more R.A.M. and what not. Before you go, write down the type of computer, the brand, what year it was made, and any other stats you can get (right click on "My Computer" then select "Properties" and write what you see under "Computer"). You should consider getting at least 1 Gig. (Gigabyte) of it. That'll cost you about $80 ,but it's well worth it. Your whole computer will run much faster. If you need anymore help just E-mail me and I'll be glad to help.

I don't think that there is much of a solution to getting the game to run faster given on the official website ... maybe the only solution is to invest in one of the new games that they are bringing out now specifically for laptops - the Sims Life Stories.
http://sims.yahoo.com/
http://thesims2.ea.com/about/sims_stories/index.php
But I imagine that you realise that - as I think you've also asked a question about the Sims Life Stories.

It goes slow because the sims takes up alot of the memory. If you wont to go faster then you have to buy more memory for the laptop.

That is a really tough problem.
The sims 2 life stories is lab top compatible, however there isn't any expansion packs. It would be like just playing the sims 2, accept the neighborhoods, and people are different.

My grandfather has a problem with a very slow computer also.
It is likely because there is either very little memory on your computer's hard-drive or else there just isn't much memory on your computer left.
It could also be that you have a very slow computer processor or a very old computer that finds it too hard to work with the game at the speed that the game wants to run at.

my computer also has problems with sims 2 and i finally had to delete altogether. i emailed ea games about the problem but they gave no real solution. i think its because its such a large file. i had a lot of problems with it not downloading properly, running slow, freezing etc. so i just finally gave up. email ea games or go to the sims 2 website and see if you can get an answer, i didn't but maybe you'll be luckier.

It sounds like your memory....I had a similar problem when I bought
Sims 2 and installed it on my desktop. I didn't have enough memory to support it. I bought a new laptop and made sure that I had more than enough memory and it works great now.

some sims 2 game versions aren't 'laptop frienly'...which im not sure what it means but thats probably why.
also if you download some stuff from some websites for the game it also causes it to be slow...and i think a certain cheat code causes some damage in the game

It sure does take a lot of memory. My friend's PC runs slow with it, but my laptop is newer and plays it fine. It is a fun game.
